Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race

My team, Blazing Saddles, had a great race on a very challenging course! We finished in 7hrs 46min, which was good enough for 14th overall and 11th in the co-ed elite division.

Here are some pictures; complete review posted at http://www.bebackonmonday.com/news/index.html

Keeping your Feet Happy

I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with John Vonhof, but since we all torment our feet, you should be! He is the author of a great book entitled Fixing Your Feet. He has a monthly newsletter (now in the form of a blog) and also a biweekly tips blog on how to keep your feet happy. And if you want some extreme pics, check out the Bad Feet contest. ICK!!!

Team AV running The Gorge!

A night of rain before the race ensured that this would be a challenging event indeed! I was actually impressed with the quality of the trail, although we did get a fair bit of mud! Taylor kicked some butt out there, swiping 2nd place overall male in the 6.5 mile race. My race was tough and personally not what I wanted, but I have to keep in mind the purpose was to see if my foot was healed enough to race in a longer event. It did well with little discomfort afterwards. My body however felt the effects of not training much for 2 months. I ended up taking 11th out of 43 women in the 6.5mile event, which I guess isn't so bad. (but considering how much I walked, I know I could have done some damage out there if I had been feeling chipper!)

Some great photos can be seen at

I am bad and didn't have my AV gear on.. shame shame. I didn't have body glide with me and the tri top would have chafed me like crazy. I thought I had my hat but it was left on my bed in Atl :(

I highly recommend Rock Creek events to all!
